Information Booklet for Travel to the Hobart Private Hospital
The Surgical Ward provides a co-ordinated and individualised approach to the management of women with gynaecological conditions and cancers requiring care and surgery. This booklet has been produced to answer some questions you may have about coming to the Hobart Private Hospital for your treatment.
The Tasmanian Government runs a Patient Travel Assistance Scheme known as PTAS
The Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS) provides financial help with travel and/or accommodation costs to Tasmanian residents who need to travel:
– more than 50 km (one way) to the nearest oncology or dialysis treatment centre
– more than 75 km (one way) to the nearest appropriate specialist medical service
– more than 75 km (one way) to access lymphoedema treatment
from their permanent residence. Benefits are only paid for interstate referrals when the treatment is unavailable in Tasmania. Information regarding the scheme can be found at http://www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/hospital/ptas

Personal information collected from you in applying to the Patient Travel Assistance Scheme will only be used for the purpose of managing, assessing, advising upon and determining your application. Failure to provide the information may result in your application not being considered. Personal information will be managed to comply with the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Act 2004, and may be accessed upon request to the relevant Patient Travel Assistance Scheme Coordinator in your area.
